Use Offbeat Extras to Generate PR for your Vacation Rental

Many of us don’t have problems booking our homes close to full occupancy during our high season but have less than stellar occupancy during our low season. In your low season, get creative and offer your guests something that will generate hype, humor, good press, or all three. Even if they don’t rise to the bait, an offhand viral share on Facebook or free exposure in the press will do wonders for both your reputation and your occupancy.  Services that don’t cost you the earth include massages, unusual local tours or activities, or quirky themed gifts.

A London hotel once offered their guests a Bed Warmer deal, suggesting that their staff, clad in one-piece sleeping costumes, would climb into their beds for five minutes prior to the guest retiring for sleep. It might have been an odd suggestion, but the inn received press coverage in several major tabloids, and guaranteed, people continue to talk about it today. In a similar fashion, a Venice Beach vacation property coordinated a deal with a local tattoo parlor, offering guests a voucher, plus ice, accessories, and tequila. Offbeat, but effective.

It is hard for many people to say no to a booking when you offer them a free airport shuttle. This incentive alone has increased closing rates to over 80%!  Find out what your customers enjoy and cater the extra to them. We have also given away free wine and brewery tours, gift cards to popular restaurants, and tickets to unique tours that most travelers may never know about.
